HANPAN · TRACK 7

One More Cup

한 잔 먹세

Track 7 of Hanpan  ·  History notes →  ·  Korean lyrics side by side →

A night at the gisaeng house. Miss the jar in tuho and you drink; roll the juryeonggu die and the forfeit is a song, or three cups in a row. The moon tilts and the candle burns short, but there is still wine left.

One cup — two cups — three cups
Now — drink

One arrow in my hand
eyes on the jar, then eyes shut
If it goes in, I drink
if it misses, you drink
Now, throw — (throwing!)
Where did it go — (the floor!)
Now, drink — (drinking!)

Have a drink, have a drink
take this one cup
One more cup — (one more cup!)
and another cup — (and another cup!)
Tonight — (not going!)
nobody's going home — (not going!)

Roll the juryeonggu — (rolling!)
What came up —
"Sing a song" — (oh no!)
"Three cups in a row" — (oh no!)
"Dance without a sound" — (oh no!)
"Sit still and make us laugh" — (hahaha!)

The moon is tilting
the candle is short
the nobleman's hat is crooked
and there is still wine left

One cup two cups three cups four cups
One cup two cups three cups four cups

Have a drink, have a drink
take this one cup
One more cup — (one more cup!)
and another cup — (and another cup!)
Tonight — (not going!)
nobody's going home — (not going!)

Well — everyone's fallen over
Come again tomorrow
